What is Dental Bonding?

Posted .

If you’ve ever chipped a tooth, you know what an uncomfortable experience it is. And for a lot of people, the chips in their teeth aren’t big enough to merit a crown or other type of restorative dentistry work.

So what can you do to fix teeth that need just a bit of extra help to get back to looking their best? Well, dental bonding is a great solution that’s not utilized as often as it could – or should – be. But that’s largely because most people don’t know what bonding is, or how much of an impact it can have on their smile.

So let’s take a look at it, shall we?

What is bonding?
Dental bonding is the process of using a special resin to fix chipped teeth. Dr. David Duke here at Dental Designs of Bountiful in Bountiful, Utah will apply the resin to your affected tooth (or teeth) and shape it to match your natural tooth. Once the resin is in place, it’s blasted with a UV light and hardened immediately. Then it’s off to get it polished and cleaned, and it’ll look just like the rest of your teeth!

Do they last?
Dental bondings are made from a durable resin, so you shouldn’t have problems with yours unless you do things that could hurt your teeth. As long as you take care of them, you’ll have a complete, beautiful smile once again.

Perhaps the best part of dental bonding is that it’s a process that doesn’t hurt one bit! It’s a relatively quick procedure, too. If you’d like to make an appointment, or simply learn more, please call us today at 801-295-7171. We can’t wait to help you!
